Subaru Ascent off roading and STUCK IN THE MUD at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument?

After checking road conditions in the local Bureau of Land Management Inter Agency Field Office in Escalante, we decided to adventure in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Sadly, conditions were not as promised, and my Ascent sunk into the mud to the frame – not in a wash, but on the trail above the wash.
